The 2014 Mazda 6 was unveiled at the 2012 Moscow Auto
Show. The model unveiled, as well as all specifications
released, are for the Russian market only. U.S. specifications will be announced
at a later date. A major change on the
line-up is that the 2013 model was conspicuously without the outgoing model's
272-hp 3.7-liter V6 engine option. But no details were released on the U.S.
version of the midsize sedan, or whether the V6 will remain on the US/Global market line-up.
The Russian-spec 2013 Mazda 6 gets two engine
choices: a 148-horsepower Skyactiv-G 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine and a 189-horsepower
Skyactiv-G 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine. No plans for hybrid or diesel
options were mentioned.

The Mazda 6 is a critical car for the Japanese automaker because it's the first in the Mazda lineup to be designed entirely under the ‘Skyactiv’ engineering initiative. It definitely has a much fresher, edgier look and some appealing new features. Hopefully for Mazda, the new 6 could finally land on the shopping lists of mainstream sedan buyers.
